Basics
So far not much of KT-207 has been explored beyond the first landing site on the coast of the Green Sea. The main settlement is called New Chicago, and there are four more: Outpost 1, Outpost 2, Marrow, and Whitberg.
The land is arid but extremely fertile. There is no surface water on KT-207; however, water rises during the night and accumulates in lower places. In the winters, water stays in these lower places for the entire season before seeping back into the dirt. The rivers, lakes, and seas operate very much the same way, becoming traversable by watercraft only at night.
The climate is mild in the winter and hot in the summer. There has never been any precipitation of any kind, and the weather patterns seem limited to wind, dust, and heat lightning.
Most Earth crops seem to grow fine, with the exceptions of tobacco, hemp, poppies, peanuts, and apples. Most Earth crops actually tend to grow bigger in the soil of KT-207, but they seem to acquire an odd aftertaste.
Gold, silver, copper and other precious metals are found in abundance, but iron is in extremely short supply. Sandstone and rose granite are commonly mined and quarried for building; however, wood is in short supply because trees do not seem to grow very large.[/b]

New Chicago New Chicago is the first and largest settlement on KT-207. 100 years before present, the first colonization ship landed and was cannibalized to provide food, shelter, and fuel. As a result, many of the buildings retain some Earth touches, and are even made out of insulating space-craft hull. In the map above, only the center of New Chicago is diagrammed, many other families live in the direct surrounding areas. New Chicago is the center of government, and has the only court of law among the settlements. It also has the only jail, and is the only place where executions may be legally conducted. Every six months, representatives of the other settlements meet and agree on laws. New Chicago is characterized by wide unpaved roads, short and wide buildings, and a constant breeze coming from the east over the Green Sea.
